Просмотров 68 тыс.14 дней назад
I can’t believe this! only a few days after the last incident where a dog got loose in with our pregnant ewes, it happened again. This time it was in the twins and if we hadn’t been there to intervene I fear it could have been so much worse. I apologise for swearing at one point I hope you forgive me I was very stressed! This video covers last Saturday / Sunday in our lambing season. I’m puttin...

It’s feeling quite the struggle ! It’s been a long winter …. I think this is maybe a bit of a boring update but I will let you decide - it’s a weekly catch up with what’s been going on , plus my thoughts and feelings in the countdown to lambing! The weather has been mostly grim and disappointing as the long range forecast had promised us that high pressure was coming but we ended up with heavy ...

IT CAN’T STOP RAINING! (Muddy fields, sheep health and trying to a dry spot for the highland cattle)

A week of farm life at Dale farm, It is mostly raining but the first visible sunrise for ten days was a beautiful and most welcome sight !! We are moving the cows ring feeders because the area has become flooded, and the sheep need their vaccines and a foot bath before lambing!

An important job, to bring back the highland cows . The conditions in their field have been too bad for too long ( so much rain ) and so the cows are coming home where some fresh ground should be good for them. Also sorting and rotating the ewes into groups ready for pre lambing feeding. The countdown is on now! Sharing our farm life from Dale Farm in the Peak District, where I am the fifth gen...

WORTH THE WAIT!! Selling store lambs at auction
Our parliament banned electric remote training collars recently. They are the tool which can livestock train troublesome prey driven dogs like the one shown in this video. They used to stick a dog in with a ewe for it to be taught a lesson. Bit dangerous and cruel to the ewe really. Now a ping of an e collar is deemed too cruel for a dog to learn a valuable life lesson which could prevent it being shot by a farmer. Never mind about electric fences - they’re ok as are invisible electric boundary fence systems. Sure, but taking vital tools away from professional dog trainers and owners which are proven to work and could easily have come under more regulation as opposed to a ban is foolish. Attacks on sheep by dogs increased significantly in Wales after they banned e collars. Will be interesting how this plays out in England now.
☺️🌈☀️Украина.
Its maddening the amount of people that seem to think its OK to let their dog get in your field and chase your sheep. I bet they would be pissed off and want your details if one of the sheep trampled the dog and hurt it.
Hi Joanne thank you for the good video your farm looks beautiful nice and green and you and Nic doing a great job to help out the sheep when they lambing 👍👋🍻
Bella nascita ma purtroppo non riesco a sopportare gli animali che leccano qualcosa, questo mi fa venire un nervoso di quelli mai visti 😡
It’s why I e collar trained my high drive dogs so things like this don’t happen. I don’t understand why people who can’t control their dogs let them off lead! Some people feel so entitled these days, they think their dogs should be able to do what they want. 😮💨
nearly there.......nice looking lambs coming on......keep our fingers crossed that store lambs are selling well in the autumn
Here’s the way we handle it. The owner gets one warning, two if the farmer is feeling polite. Other wise it is a known thing that if dogs attack they get shot and buried without report to the owner and the owner doesn’t ask around. Everyone assumes the dog was taken by coyotes.
👍👍
I just saw this blog today was thrilled to see your dad again how fast time goes
You might want to consider livestock guardian dog that lives with your ewes
Она просит помощи воды.
Дайте срочно ей воды и немного сахарку положите в воду ей это необходимо нужно.
Hello from Nova Scotia Canada your not alone we had crazy weather right across canada.can not predict the weather last couple years.keep muddling through
Great video Joanna you have got great lambs too 👌
Time for the three S’s
Lots of people in the comments wishing death upon these dogs as if its their fault their owners are irresponsible. So sick of animals getting punished for the failure of humans.
It doesn't matter who's fault it is, it matters that people have the right to protect their animals from other people's animals, are you going to let your pets get mauled and just stand by?
@@Sindaras if my pet was being mauled I'd get whatever was mauling them off my animal, I wouldn't instantly try to kill it.
Chute'em
No that's stupid
@@stuffynosepatrolNo it isn't, it's a perfectly reasonable course of action, just because it's someone's pet doesn't mean it gets to terrorise animals, maybe if the owner loses this dog they'll keep their next one on a leash 🤷♂️
@@Sindaras1) ah yes, punish the dog for it's owner's lack of responsibility. Totally fair. 2) the chances of you hitting your own animals are incredibly high so there's no point, either way your animals going to be injured or killed. The chances of the owner managing to restrain their dog before it can do any damage are higher than the chances of you hitting a speeding dog running in circles around your sheep without hitting your sheep too.
To be honest, just get yourself a farm dog...a pyrenees dog for all that matter and youll be saving yourself the trouble...
I'm glad you had lots of success despite all the hard times while lambing! Great videos from the lambing ❤
ITS UP TO YOU TO GUARD THEM.. that is the purpose of Livestock Guardian Dogs. Its one thing to say that people need to be responsible with their dogs and that's true!! But lets be realistic DF... how has society gone trying to stop people driving under the influence; eradicating neglectful parents or neglectful animal owners...... it's just not going to be %100 applicable.. So get yourself a Livestock guardian dog. You guys do your bit to ensure their safety, as you should know that out there are some that won't be... God bless
your first mistake was assuming law enforcement will do anything. Take it on yourself. Think outside the box, some humans need to learn the hard way
I’d defo look into livestock guardian dogs. They aren’t super common in the Uk but I’d defo look into them. They can wander the area with the livestock and all that. All you need to do is teach them to respect your livestock and lambs. Also so annoying people don’t leash their dogs around livestock, they are just stupid people who think their dogs won’t have instincts to chase small things or noisy things.
great result x
Cracking video Joanna you have a great crop of lambs there you @ Nick should have a class of whisky the two of you deserve it 👍👍👍👍
God it's terrible! Some ppl should never have dogs!
WWKND?
You should build lean to shelter for the livestock where they take shelter
👀🙄🐾👍
I can't remember the lambing channel I was watching - one of the youtubers had a single lamb and when it was born it was 16kg - I know it was massive
Pleased all is good with you you've worked hard, well done.
Another quality video from Dale farm 🎉and the lambs are enjoying the warm days lovely to watch 😎
Hello, When you say the lamb is due to have a single, twins or triplets how do you know? Do you have ultrasound or something? Great video with amazing sunset and cloud formations. More lambs coming right along. You looked much happier I am glad. Y'all be safe I hope your spring and summer you have some fun. Steven
Guard dog also we have them
It’s beyond frustrating when owners aren’t responsible for their dogs. We’ve lost chickens and it’s so maddening
Such good ewes and lambs. And, as always beautiful scenery! Just when I think I’ve seen it all up pops more beautiful scenery 💕. Cheers 🍻 well done!
A lot of nice comments 👍
Truly Wonderful Lambing season in its Raw Up Close Late-Night Triplets So nice seeing those Quads & You showing just how long a day into night & only a few hours sleep before observing any new arrivals & I love the Care you show if the Ewes are/aren't adjusting to their Lambs Well Deserved Drink Love to you Joanna & Nick xx
Lots and lots of lambs. They are everywhere! Going on 23k subscribers! You need to sell merchandise with Dale Farm logo. T-shirts, caps, beanies, hoodies, etc...
@ronaldlucas5360, agreed 💯. Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱 and rural life - channel 😊!
I think you should get some guard donkeys! I think this would help you.
Joanna all your lambs are white face but your eyes are blk raced for the most part. Where do you your ewes come from ? Or am I missing something
Joanna a ewe talking to her newborn lamb is the sweetest sound ever I always thought
I don't know if that's practical in your area, but have you considered life stock guardian dogs? They live with the life stock (whatever that is, sheep, cows, goats... you name it), they get trained to stay in their entrusted area/property and they deal with whatever predator posing a threat to the life stock apropriately.
Joanna you Shepard's skills are off the charts. Kudos to you and Nick for your outstanding job. Your Dad is smiling for sure. Take care
great day for getting the lambs out hugssss
Excellent video again nice looking lambs a job well done thank for sharing
Great lambs already well done guys
You must be exhausted , lovly vidio . Angel and chase are so cute . Love seeing all the lambs . Ita may fifth and dnowing here .we have gotten a inch on the ground and still coming down . Take care .
So sorry you are having this trouble with rogue dogs worrying your pregnant ewes and vulnerable little lambs. My suggestion, which is not cheap, is to install taller rural fences, ie, 1500mm+ above ground with sheep mesh around the nursery paddocks and either barbwire on the top lines Or electrified via a solar energiser to keep undesirables out, (by law, not both). Can you top up, say with steel Y posts on top of the rock walls? Or, set the fences beyond dog jumping distance. Hopefully this effort will give you better peace of mind, long term.
Oh My! Still going into May. I’m Curious what’s the final head count!? Looks like a very successful year so far!✌🏻❤️🇺🇸🙏🏻🇬🇧
